From Technology to Paint: How My Artistic Voice Found Me
Fuelled by a lifelong passion for creativity, I spent years using technology – photography and Photoshop as an outlet while working in the Public Health ICT industry.
As the demands of the recent pandemic intensified, this artistic pursuit became a crucial outlet for me, giving me some desperately needed time to quiet the busy brain and focus on something that brought me joy. Staring at screens during downtime had lost its appeal, I desperately needed something new.
In late 2020, I craved a different kind of creation. Enter acrylics! Their vibrancy resonated with me, offering a welcome contrast to the digital world. While I haven't pursued formal training, my mother, a renowned watercolourist, supported my interest and offered invaluable guidance. I also embraced the incredible online art community, learning from generous artists who share their knowledge and techniques.
The past two years have been a whirlwind of artistic discovery, fuelled by the enthusiastic response from friends and family to my work. Watching people respond to something I have created is an incredible feeling that is very hard to explain.
Publishing my work for all to see is somewhat daunting, however I think my nervousness is drowned by the excitement of sharing my personal perspective of pretty things.
My Style
I feel like I need to tell you about my style however at this stage in my artistic journey the definition of my style is constantly evolving and to be honest I think it always will. What I can tell you is some of the subjects that inspire me, I have a passion for painting people, emotions and I just love colour. I am also an eternal optimist with a strong sense of fun and whimsey and I think this is reflected in my work.
