He flawlessly mimics the calls of his feathered neighbours, building an ever-expanding repertoire. His brilliance extends beyond the natural world – recordings capture him replicating the clicks of a camera, the snarl of a chainsaw, the shriek of a car alarm.

Late last year, three such encounters, each a fleeting gift, sparked a contemplation within me. The lyrebird's beauty lies in its masterful deception, a testament to the transformative power hidden within negative concepts. Sometimes, the most exquisite beauty emerges from the unexpected.
